Resumen
Abstract
cuatro meses el programa de intervención;
previo y posterior al programa de inter-
vención se aplicó pruebas pretest y postest,
mediante los test internacionales deno-
minados test de “inteligencia matemática
de Binet-Simón y Wechsler”, para efectos
de comparación de evidencias. Finalmen-
te, mediante pruebas de hipótesis, usando
las distribuciones normal y t de Student,
se concluye que el pensamiento computa-
cional (variable independiente), afecta de
manera estadísticamente significativa en la
mejora del pensamiento matemático (va-
riable dependiente).
This research analyzes the impact of tea-
ching computational skills on the math
thinking abilities of eighth-grade students
at the Santo Domingo Savio Educational
Institution of Chinchiná (Caldas-Colom-
bia), which belong to socioeconomic level
1, 2, and 3 and are aged between 12 and
17 years old. The research was developed
in 2020 and 2021 and was based on the
computational thinking proposed by Wing
(2014). This notion was considered the in-
dependent study variable for the process,
and Piaget’s theory of mathematical thin-
king (1952) was the dependent variable.
The research was quasi-experimental and
involved an intentional non-probabilistic
sampling. The investigation used experi-
mental groups, with one group each year
who underwent a four-month intervention
program. Before and aſter the interven-
tion program, pretest and post-test tests
were conducted using the international
Binet-Simon and Wechsler mathematical
intelligence test to compare the results. Fi-
nally, using hypothesis testing, by means of
the normal and Student’s t-distributions, it
is concluded that computational thinking
(independent variable) has a statistically
significant effect on improving mathemati-
cal thinking (dependent variable).
