Precarious employment conditions in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México 2021

The objective of this article is to characterize the working conditions of the employed population in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua through the creation of a Precarity of Employment Index (IPE) that summarizes the precariousness of employment by sex and age group. For this purpose, data from the third quarter of 2021 from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE), which is compiled quarterly by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) were used. In addition to highlighting that job insecurity is part of the emergence of a new emerging class theoretically recognized as precarious and that this configuration highlights, among other things, new structural disadvantages for those who join the ranks of precariousness.
