In the Caribbean Region the presence of diapirism is related to phenomena of erosion and desertification of soils, making them unfit for construction and other structural uses. The present study evaluates the geological, geotechnical and environmental characteristics in six zones affected by diapirism of sludge phenomena in the Colombian Caribbean coast. The research relates the characteristics found in the different zones, determining a geotechnical and geological behavior pattern that allows inferring the presence of this phenomenon in other sites of similar conditions, in order to evaluate possible threats or soil risk factors for some anthropic activities.
