This article addresses the problem of water scarcity and instability in the water supply of apartment buildings in Ibagué, Colombia, through the design, development, and experimental validation of an automated (electronic and hydraulic) water reserve and supply prototype. The solution, based on control technologies, computer-aided design (CAD), and microcontroller-based monitoring devices, optimizes space utilization and ensures efficient operation during prolonged outages. A quantitative-descriptive and experimental methodology was employed, grounded in needs assessment, CAD modeling, and validation in a real and controlled environment within the UNAD research facilities, which served as a representative sample for evaluating the system's functionality. The results show that the prototype achieves stable pressure levels of 17.4 ± 2 psi at low and medium hydraulic points, regardless of the tank level (1–100%) and distances of up to 12 meters. However, at higher elevations, adjustments to the pressurizer activation are required, as its performance is limited when the tank level falls below 50% or the distance exceeds 3 meters. The system, classified at TRL level 4, represents a significant contribution to the sustainable management of water resources and can be replicated in other similar urban contexts.
