Más allá de la indexación en las revistas universitarias

Las revistas académicas universitarias atraviesan una crisis de criterios. Durante años, la indexación funcionó como indicador de prestigio: un listado o una categoría parecían resumir el valor de una revista. Ese modelo hoy muestra límites y ha producido posiciones contrapuestas entre autores y editores.
Una primera postura sostiene que “lo importante es estar publicado, no importa dónde”. Esta afirmación omite que publicar bajo revisión por pares rigurosa no equivale a hacerlo en espacios sin estándares editoriales ni criterios verificables de calidad; en esas condiciones, “estar publicado” pierde significado.
Una segunda postura rechaza políticas de indexación, por ejemplo, las asociadas a sistemas nacionales, con el argumento de que “limitan la publicación de trabajos propios” y “obligan a trabajar para otros”. Interpretar la publicación de autores externos como “trabajar para otros” reduce las revistas universitarias a clubes de autopublicación, cuando deberían operar como plataformas de diálogo científico con responsabilidad pública. La endogamia editorial debilita la conversación académica y empobrece el contraste entre instituciones.
